Best Tennis Coaches in Singapore: How to Choose the Right One

Singapore has a deep pool of tennis coaches: independent pros teaching on condominium courts, structured academies running weekly programmes, and everything in between. That choice is good news, but it also makes the decision harder. Certifications differ, teaching languages differ, and a coach who is excellent with competitive juniors is not automatically the right person to get an adult beginner rallying comfortably.

Coaching in Singapore since 2015, he teaches in English or French and previously worked in France and the United Kingdom. He also manages the Spin Tennis Academy in Serangoon, coaching over 120 children every week, with a methodology built around adapting balls, rackets and court sizes to each player.
Coach Vadim — Senior Tennis and Pickleball Coach
Vadim is a Russian senior tennis and pickleball coach with 15 years of experience, coaching in Singapore since 2023. He teaches in English, Russian or French, and has experience coaching junior ITF players. Before Singapore, he worked in Moscow from 2011 to 2022 at the Fit Tennis School and the Moscow Lawn Tennis Club.

What to Check Before You Book a Tennis Coach
Most people pick a coach on price and availability alone, then change after a few months. These six checks save that detour.
Certification. Ask which federation certified the coach and when. A recognised diploma — French Tennis Federation, LTA, PTR, USPTA — means the coach was trained in progression and injury prevention, not just in playing well.
Experience with your profile. Coaching a 5-year-old, an adult returning after 15 years off, and a competitive junior are three different jobs. Ask directly how many students like you the coach currently works with.
Teaching language. In Singapore this matters more than people expect, particularly for young children and for expat families. Being corrected in your own language speeds up learning considerably.
Location and travel. A coach who can teach on the court in your condominium removes the single biggest reason people stop taking lessons: the commute.
Lesson format. Private lessons give maximum correction per hour. Small groups cost less per person and add match play. Many players combine both — one private and one group session a week.
Personal fit. Coaching is a partnership. Take a trial lesson before committing to a term, and pay attention to whether the coach explains the why behind a correction or simply repeats the instruction louder.
How Much Do Tennis Lessons Cost in Singapore?
Price depends on the format far more than on anything else. At Spin Tennis, current rates are:
Private lesson (1-to-1): SGD 130 per hour.
Group of 2: SGD 70 per player.
Group of 3: SGD 50 per player.
Group of 4: SGD 40 per player.
Ladies clinics and team sessions: from SGD 40 per player, SGD 60 per player for a 90-minute team session.
Kids Academy in Serangoon: SGD 590 for a 15-hour package, groups of 5 maximum, which works out from around SGD 39 per week.
Kids holiday camps: SGD 390 for a 10-hour package, two hours a day Monday to Friday.

The practical takeaway: if cost is the constraint, forming a group of three or four brings the hourly rate down to roughly a third of a private lesson, while still giving you a certified coach.
Where Tennis Lessons Take Place in Singapore
Lessons run on condominium courts, public courts, country club courts and hotel courts across the island, so the real question is usually which court is closest to you. Most condominium courts in Singapore are hard courts, and residents can typically book two to four hours a week.
